Profitable link Directory

Hello,
I heared alot about directories making good money by selling links.
I just want to know is there any truth behind this word or is it just a word of mouth? and how much time and investment is needed to build a good directory which really pays?

Are you referring to selling a listing in a directory? There are membership sites that charge a monthly or annual fee for that. Or do you just mean selling advertising on a site? Both are ways to make money but you have to have something pretty compelling to make people buy a monthly or annual service to view content on a site.

well I mean link directory which supports feature listings where memeber pays for monthly or annualy for listing.

I hear that Craigslist is one of the biggest directories around in which you pay a certain amount for your classified to be listed for a certain amount of time. You should check them out, they are exploding at a abnormal rate and many business owners and marketers are having success with it! I haven't personally tried it because I found it pretty expensive.

you need to get your directory to about a pr5+ before it becomes profitable, other than adsense.

Directories are great but to build a good one, well it's A LOT of work. You'll spend hundreds if not thousands of hours building and promoting it and you can't charge a cent until it's pretty popular. If you can do it they usually do pretty well. It will take a lot of maintaining too.

I'll agree with that because prevailing thought around the net is a low ranked directory will bring down your pr

Yeah it definently might not be the most profitable thing, but when you have a great pr directory it definently helps all your new sites.

So what if I have my sites listed in different kinds of directories and related sites, some with high pr and others with low pr? Will low pr directories still bring down the pr of my sites?

No this will have no direct effect on your website because your website is only an inbound link on your article page, the only thing that will get affected in terms of page rank is your article direct link itself, and we can't change that unless we do SEO for each article you write, which is totally ridiculous

! The more articles you write the higher your rank becomes for that directory in the search engines.
