Default $3 Domain Names

Hey guys, just thought I'd share the news ... www.ipowerweb.com is selling domains for $3 each, no joke. I'm not affiliated with them at all, but I am currently hosting my design site, my forum, and my blog through them and have never had any problems or down time.

The registration process is very limiting though, and don't even think about having an organized domain management account like at Namecheap. But still for $3, it's a great deal.

Do you have to have a hosting account in order to purchase at that price?

Do you know if you can transfer the domain to a different registrar after ordering it through them? My guess is that you might not be able to do that. Who has control over the domain as well?

No. I just bought mattcoddington.com and pointed it to my existing hosting account.

Also, they give 1 free domain with the purchase of a $7.95/mo hosting package. I know I sound like an ipowerweb employee, but it really is a great deal and a great service.

I know I was able to transfer my domain (talkrock.org) from Namecheap to ipowerweb. I'm not 100% it works the other way but I would assume so. I'm not saying there might not be limitations to this, but it's worth checking out.

I've tested several hosting companies and ipowerweb was one of those that for some reason I was not satisfied with. Of course that was a few years ago and thing could be better now.

I generally prefer to keep my hosting separate from my domain registrar for many reasons, but for those that do not mind the combo, I've been an affiliate of ArmHost.com which allows its resellers to offer FREE domain in their hosting packages as long as the user signs up for at least the $40/year hosting package.

I personally prefer to pay a little extra for my domain, to have the convenience of quickly relocating the hosting if I need to.

jgarifuna,

I see that ArmHost.com links to ResellersPanel. Take my advice and stay away! We just had a pretty nasty split with this company. The word on the inside is that they have run out of money and are failing. That aside, I was lied to several times by their senior management. Like I said before, run the other way!
