I've tested several hosting companies and ipowerweb was one of those that for some reason I was not satisfied with. Of course that was a few years ago and thing could be better now.
I generally prefer to keep my hosting separate from my domain registrar for many reasons, but for those that do not mind the combo, I've been an affiliate of
ArmHost.com which allows its resellers to offer FREE domain in their hosting packages as long as the user signs up for at least the $40/year hosting package.
I personally prefer to pay a little extra for my domain, to have the convenience of quickly relocating the hosting if I need to.
