I got their sample pack of prints and the business cards seemed so thick they were more like cardboard. Is that how yours are? Because I was hoping for something thinner than that...

Nah, they're perfect. High gloss, one side, we got quiet a few (can't remember how many) with three different names all togethor for like $90. The cards look just like a kodak picture, I'm in love with them.

I think maybe just your contact details on one side and then on the other side maybe a simple outline of your services. That is the best way to have it IMO.

I would have thought all you need is:

Company name
Tag line - your slogan, or what you do in under 6 words
Your name
Your job title
Contact details

That is all I have ever had on cards, as an employee or as self-employed.

The rest of your "message" has to come from somewhere else - ideally talking to someone when they get the card. They will remember what you do, and use your card to remember who you are.

The only thing that I would add is to include your website with your contact details as this is where people will get the information they really need from

Honestly, about SophMedia's impact on gloss, you can get that anywhere... but for a price like that ($90...) to me that sounds like a bargain based on how many you get... I may check into them after this post

My business card gives a quick idea of what I do through the slogan under my company name, my title, and, of course, my company name. I don't add anything beyond that. The card is simple, sleek, and communicates the point.

Kind of off topic, but has anybody ever heard of these companies that charge a little bit money, you send them your business cards and they re-distribute your cards around the vacinity they stay at to get you business? Is this a good small-form marketing technique.

I have heard of such companies, but was never brave enough to trust them; it may be me, but it just didn't seem right :\

Yeah, I figured that though. Many of them take your cards and 1 of 2 things, throws them away or takes them and distributes them in non-audience places (places your not looking for audience in.)
