It's sometimes hard to keep your motivation up when you're sitting alone in front of the computer and other things are catching your attention ... like the sun outside your window

or your bed is calling you after the all-nighter you just pulled to finish up one in a long line of projects waiting.
When this happens to me, I just bite the bullet and start. To me, it's starting a project that is the tough part. Once it's begun, I want to keep working on it to get it finished and get paid! Sometimes I do have to psych myself up to get going in the morning, but I had to do that when I worked for others too -- shall I call in sick or not?? - although it is easier to not work when you are working for yourself. Gotta get groceries, do the dishes, walk the dog, call your partner, etc. etc. etc. Lots of excuses abound.
So a little self-talk usually works for me if I'm having motivation problems. I also try to think about how if I don't get going, I'm going to be letting someone down .... a little guilt goes a long way as my ex-mother-in-law was expert at demonstrating
