Default How do you stay active?

I was wondering how you all stay active and excited about a project? Is there a ritual you do to force yourself to keep interested? Do you just keep repeating to yourself that it'll be worth it in the end? What do you do to keep updating and improving your website?

I sell it.

I have a nervous tick, I can't do the same thing for a long period of time. I especially cannot sit and wait months for visitors to come.

I just keep more than one project going, and switch focus depending on what I'm feeling in the mood for. I have a minimum of work that MUST be done, but I don't do more than that when I'm feeling burned out.

I am having that same problem right now. Two projects going on, and I can't get motivated to do my projects. At the moment I have a partner with one who keeps me motivated

It's for the money - and for the success. I pride myself in being a successful person, and having a project that isn't successful is sort of like a...bad omen for me.

I won't stop until it's successful - or I will at least put it on the back burner. Another motivation is the profit and income. It's great to wake up in the morning, check my incoming orders, and see how many people bought a product or a service in the last 24 hours.

Not only are you happy because you got money - but you are happy because of the satisfaction that someone else trusts you, and wants to order a product from you.

It's sometimes hard to keep your motivation up when you're sitting alone in front of the computer and other things are catching your attention ... like the sun outside your window or your bed is calling you after the all-nighter you just pulled to finish up one in a long line of projects waiting.

When this happens to me, I just bite the bullet and start. To me, it's starting a project that is the tough part. Once it's begun, I want to keep working on it to get it finished and get paid! Sometimes I do have to psych myself up to get going in the morning, but I had to do that when I worked for others too -- shall I call in sick or not?? - although it is easier to not work when you are working for yourself. Gotta get groceries, do the dishes, walk the dog, call your partner, etc. etc. etc. Lots of excuses abound.

So a little self-talk usually works for me if I'm having motivation problems. I also try to think about how if I don't get going, I'm going to be letting someone down .... a little guilt goes a long way as my ex-mother-in-law was expert at demonstrating

I find myself reading so much about how to promote the site.
So much that I often find myself wasting time on forums and reading ebooks etc, rather than doing the actual work!

I just tell myself that i have to put these plans into action, most of the time I write down the steps to take with a checkbox next to each.
