What benefits are to gain from sending out daily, weekly, or monthly newsletters. Do you find that lost members/customers are reminded of your site and return? Do your members/customers like to know what's going on?

I highly believe myself that it brings people back if you send newsletters. Let them know what's been going on, what is new to offer and much more. I'm sure you'll see an increase in your traffic from them coming back.

Those are my thoughts exactly. Have you had any experience with newsletters? Sending or receiving them?

Sometimes, I find them quite annoying when I receive them from a site or forum I'm not active at.

Well basically yeah, but sometimes they'll think, WOW, I REMEMBER THIS FORUM, which could lure them back into checking on you, but also some take it as SPAM... so I usually be careful who it is sent to and not.

I have a fortnightly list, and I get a lot of repeat visitors from it.

I think it can work well - you just need to make your newsletter interesting, and keep to a regular schedule. Once your readers know its worth reading, they're inclined to take a look instead of unsubscribing or hitting the delete button.

I'll have to make sure I include interesting information. I have trouble reaching out to everyone sometimes. How do you feel about a weekly, or biweekly, newsletter? Most likely biweekly, so I can have time to revise and edit the newsletter.
