Default Question and Answer Sites --- Worth Biz?

Has anybody ever thought of starting a question and answer site and charging a small amount for each researched questions/answer. Basically like Yahoo Answer! but charging for it, and of course, the well-known Google Answers is my actual example I am seeking.

Simply put... ask a question, get an answer... pay the person who answered money... plain and simple --- seems like a valuable business is planned right.

If Google and Yahoo already offer this, and for free, why would you bother competing against them? Especially if you will be charging for what they do for free?

Doesn't Google charge as well?

I think it will work as people won't know about google and yahoo, heck I didn't know Yahoo did it and if Google does it for free then I didn't know that either.

The internet is still very young and now is the prime time to set up a business and go for it providing you have all the proper planning, motivation and dedication to pursue it through the good times and bad.

Also another thing, with Google going the way Microsoft is and getting thier hands wet in a lot of industries and people move away from Google then you will be able to capture that market as well as those who never heard of Google or know they do the same thing your doing.

Hope that helps some bit,
Shane

Yes, Google does charge... thought I made that clear in my first post, I apologize if I didn't... but they do charge (starting at $2.50 and even at that price they say a minimum of 60% will respond.) So either way, and Yahoo Answers is still in the BETA stage.

With all the hype surrounding Google & Yahoo, it'll be tough to compete. You don't necessarily have to top them, just earn money.

It sounds like a good idea, but I'm not so sure that it will prove successful for a few months.

I am not going to start this type of business, I was just asking is it really all worth it? You know, paying money to have somebody research for you?

Basically, you could pay the money to have it researched, then head over to Content Juice and have them type the article up for you... gotta have a method on everything

Too true. I guess that would work, so long as you're not paying as much as you're charging.

Okay, I've re-read over my own topics, the main 2 questions is what I want to know:

1. Is it good to pay for research and all of that to be done for you by these people?
2. Does it sound like a profitable business?

1. Yes
I paid people to do research for me in the past and I even still do pay people to help me with errors I have or help installing scripts.

2. Yes
To me anything can be a profitable business as long as you have the motivation, dedication and eagerness to learn as well as creativity. Also I guess you have to know what your customers want. This is the internet and people go on the internet for information and I'm sure people will pay to get information.

These are my opinions but the thing is, will you be motivated, dedicated enough to keep this business going and willing to work hard?

Shane

I think its a great idea, and that people would use it. I have heard of similar services by other companies that offer text message responses to queries, which is a nifty feature and might help you compete if such a service isn't already well known in your country.
