| Replica of Million Dollar Homepage I've been searching for ways to make money, easy and effortless ways. I thought of selling space on my site, but I figured there wasn't too much free space on my site. A few weeks ago, I came across http://www.milliondollarhomepage.com/. How brilliant is that?! Every pixel has been purchased! That's $1,000,000 made easy!
How long do you think it took to establish this idea and business? How do you go about promoting something like this? |

| Re: Replica of Million Dollar Homepage I wouldn't go about replicating it. There's been so many copy cat sites out there that it really wouldn't be worth your while.
I believe he got attention intially from college/uni friends, then it got mentioned on radio and it spiralled out of control from there. National then international media attention. |

| Re: Replica of Million Dollar Homepage It has been out for a while, I'm not going to lie, I've had thoughts of starting one. I'd say go with it if you want, just be flexible and try and give a good reason why your doing it, i.e. would be the money goes to charity or something --- do as you wish, its your choice... but the script is easily found through Yahoo, type in Million Dollar Pixels (I believe is the script name.) |

| Re: Replica of Million Dollar Homepage I think that the website is a fantastic idea. I was inspired by it and created my own little niche site called UnitedStatesofAds.com. Alex not only created a fantastic website, but created a new advertising market online for everyone!

don't bother doing your own, its not a new idea. | This is not true....
Anyways, regarding the idea: MillionDollarHomePage was started in September 2005 by a United Kingdom college student who wanted to raise funds for college. By March 2006, he had sold all 1 million pixels on his site. Many other folks have copied this idea (copycat sites now number in the thousands) and none of them have made any real money. I do not advise pursuing this idea. |

| Re: Replica of Million Dollar Homepage As far as I know, he started the website and after it started to pull in money, he hired a publicist.
It's a nice idea but I would never even consider trying to replicate it.
