Post Web Hosting

I realize we have went over this before but since I just moved to my new server I just have to post

We have some new members as well so it shouldn't be a duplicate thread.

Here is my private server:
Pentium D 820 - 2.8GHz Processor
• 2 x 1MB Cache
• 1GB ECC DDRII 400 RAM
• 2000GB Public Bandwidth

I hired Rack911.com to do the server hardening and site setup.

Where are your sites hosted? Do you have your own server(s)?

Pretty nice setup you've fixed yourself there, Max. I assume you've rented it from some company, if so, do you care to disclose which one and what kind of deal you got from them? And I think you did a good choice going with Rack911, I've heard nothing but good things about them, and a good friend of mine who does (well, did) all server management for me was mentored by the owner, and he definately knows his stuff.

Right now I don't have have my own box, since I sold out of all my projects a while ago, so a site5 shared account does the trick for me these days. That might change a few months into the future however

I guess I can list the last box I had before I sold out. It was this one with The Planet, and for all of you lazy people, it's a P2800 with Dual 2.8GHz Xeon Processors, 2GB RAM and 2 80GB HDDs.

Nice one!
They are impressive specs, if I do say so myself

Trey, sorry for the late reply, I'm renting the server from SoftLayer.com. So far the company has been nothing but a pleasure to deal with.

I heard TP is going downhill. I know Spencer has a bunch of servers with them and swears by them but I can only go by the reviews .

I've heard of SoftLayer.com somewhere, not sure where though. I've heard both good and bad, mostly good.

I'm hosted on a VPS at the moment. I'm buying a proper server, but that won't be for a little while yet. I'll be getting it colocated with 34SP in the UK.

ohhh, I havent really looked into other server companies in years. The planet have some very nice deals - better spec, more bandwidth and cheaper than ev1 from what I can see.

My main concern when looking at other companies is that there are so many resellers, and small co-location operations that could easily disapear overnight.

I agree avix, thats why when I've found a good host I don't want to move. The host I'm with now have been running for years, and they are mostly reliable. When there is downtime they are very good about letting people know why and how quickly things will be back to normal, and do everything in their power to keep you up and running if they know about the downtime in advance.

I've never had a host shut down on me, but I have had them mess up on me billing wise and then not answer emails, so communication is essential IMO.

I'm currently with RapidVPS which I would at one stage really good fast response etc but now however thier responses are extremely slow, but they still good in my opinion.

I have all my sites with them and I can grow with them quite easily and upgrading is very simple as they just give me more resources.

eDataSecure.com --- I believe that's the URL... I am going to purchase a dedicated server from them in a couple of weeks and then taking it up and getting a co-located server whenever my business permits it. Maybe even 2, one for Windows (ASP.NET) and the other Linux (PHP)
