Default What is one of your most annoying customer experiences?

I have to say one of the most annoying experience is when I had my web hosting business, a customer rang me up and said his site was down. I checked his site and it was up, then I checked a few of my other clients sites and they were up.

He soon responded after that his internet connection was down and since he has his site as his homepage on his browser, he thought his site was down and immediately rang me.

However the annoying part was, he done that more than once.

Share with us some of your most annoying customer experience you had.

Shane

Shane: that doesn't even come close to some of my horror stories. It's 3:30 AM so I won't get into them now, but let me just tell you that I've had some seriously horrible dealings with customers where I acted perfectly towards them and they still gave me the worst time ever. I'll post more about it in the morning!

Heh, let's hear your story. Anyway, that must have really annoyed you. I think that the customer should've tried to browse the internet a little bit and if it doesn't work, he can clearly assume that his internet is down.

One of my most annoying customer experiences is when a customer refused to make their final payment to me for a project. They had no reason and no complaints with my work. THey just decided that they "didn't want to pay what they originally agreed to." They decided on their own that they wanted to pay less after all.

Thankfully, I hardly ever work customer support. I don't run any business that requires a lot of that. If I did run a company with a customer support team, I would make it clear in the TOS that threats to sue, slander, etc, are all considered abuse and the customer's services will immediately be terminated.

I think one of my most annoying ones, is one that happened a few weeks ago. A client contacted me to migrate is site design into a vBulletin forum design. No problem.

I did exactly as he told me to with regards to a) how the design looked and b) how he wanted certain things. I liased with him via email pretty much the whole way and he was giving me specific things he wanted changing, which I was more than willing to do.

However out of the blue I get an email saying that the work is sub-par and it's nothing like what he wanted (remember he'd be telling me the whole way through it's good and he only wanted minor things changing), so I'm totally shocked at this. I fire off a couple of emails asking what the problems are etc. He replies with it looks nothing like his site yadda yadda. It does perfectly well, he didn't believe the forum flowed with the site. I explained that it could only flow so much as they're different, site vs. forum.

Anyway, after a long hassle of fixing everything to his complete satisfaction and receiving several arrogant, insultive emails I finally finish and he's happy with it.

The thing was though, I have no problem meeting the clients needs right down to the pixel. But to be told everything is okay one minute and everything is wrong the next just totally pissed me off and wasted several hours of my time.

That would be really annoying. It is especially hard when you work very hard to please a customer and provide them with exactly what they want and they still aren't satisfied.
