Default Does Google Penalize for too many inbound links

Hi All,

I wanted to ask your opinions about this Googles penalty for having build too many inbound links in a short period of time

webmasterworld.com/google/3084915.htm

I need to do link building for a client and plan to simply build 10-20 links in a span of 3-6 months. Is that okay?

I plan to get links from good sources NOT blogs or forums. My client sells specialty electronics so i will only go to electronics review sites.

At any rate, this is a small site with currently 50 inbound links. will 20 additional links from quality websites that write orginal electronics reviews be a problem you think, in a 3-6 month window?

Your time period should be fine. Google looks ata lot of different things in its algorithm, much of which no one is privvy to. But if you get a lot of inbound links way too fast, that is usually sign of some **** of spamming

So how many inbound links is too fast do you think? I'm not a spammer but I did in the first few months on one of my sites get a huge response to links requests but little happened in the google area, do you think google thought I was spamming?

I have no idea. I doubt anyone really does because there is probably a lot of consider as well (i.e. is there a reason to link over to the site (payment processing)). Link Requests should be ignored. Trading links is not that great any longer unless both sites have something in common and usually they tend to be a competitor.

I am under the impression the quality of the links is what they consider. Basically, an inbound link to a posting forum that only is for linking will pull you down.

The reason they do this is so that people don't over spam their website which means that usually isn't a quality site?

I don't think the number or pace of additional links is going to be of any great concern.
Far more important is the relevance of the new links. They need to be as close as possible to the website's main content and probably the more they add to the visitor's knowledge of the product and its use/application the better.
Most of all, the value of links if they're reciprocal ones is almost certainly going to be discounted.

Well they will not Penalize for too many inbound links but it is not good for your sites. I think you should reduced it too around 30 to 40 links only.
