Well, Joomla is a great CMS. I would suggest to go ahead with joomla.

Migrate to Joomla, that's my best suggestion because your correct, a growing site needs more flexibility. When you migrate it, I'd recommend you keep the following:

1. The "Title" on your static pages
2. Retain the META tags if your static pages have any

Lastly, you'll want to install some kind of SEO URL mod addon for Joomla that will allow you to optimize your site URL's to HTML format so its search engine friendly. I believe Joomla has one built in, but don't quote me on that...
