That depends more on who you're aiming the site at and where they're likely to search than anything else. For a general search then Google is it - it's significantly larger than its competitors. For something specialised, say a classified, then somewhere like Craigslist might be better. For blogs you're looking at Technorati, blogcatalog, Digg, Stumbleupon etc.

Really depends on what you want to find.

Look what has marketing in Craigslist got to do with search options. It just helps you to improve your own web-prospects on the web.As for search options well Google is considered superior solely because of our blind faith or else equally competent are yahoo,MSN,ask, compete ,altavista etc etc.It is only that numerous sites die to improve their Google profile and hence the search has a bigger option for your results.

It depends on what you mean by "better." Please clarify.

According to ComScore, Google tops the search engine battle for this year.

Quote:
In November, Google Sites share of core searches stood at 58.6 percent, virtually the same level as in October. Yahoo! Sites ranked second with 22.4 percent, followed by Microsoft Sites (9.8 percent), Ask Network (4.6 percent) and Time Warner Network (4.5 percent), which had the largest share point gain during the month (up 0.3 points).
If search engine is what you mean then Google definitely out ranks its competitors.
