How much time does google take to index one's forum or website? is it more than couple of months ?

I think it takes a month or more before Google can indexed your website depending on the structure of your website.

If your website contains pages that can't read by the robot it will probably take longer time for your site to be indexed or worse it will not be indexed at all.

It depends on your links that your website has.Say your website has a link that points to an important website,a website with a good pr and a link similarly points to your website from that particular website and the spiders crawl that website and finds your link.Automatically your website is cached by the spiders and the pages if having fresh and original content (remember Google is out to ban PLR websites) is indexed.

It varies site to site, it all depends on backlinks you have to your site.
If you have few quality backlinks from sites which are indexed then there are great chances for your site to get index faster.
Also check your robots.txt file, you may have done some mistake which will prevent spiders from crawling your site and hence indexing.

Get some 'related' backlinks to your site (that include keywords
related to the pages on your site they're pointing to) from high traffic,
well regarded sites such as top forums, article directories,
wordpress blogs and such like.

They're crawled very often and the SEs will follow the links
& find your site very quickly.

Then just make sure your site is easy for the spiders
to navigate & understand what it's about (SEO).
Creating an XML sitemap & uploading it can also help the process.

Hope this helps. It's not unheard of to get indexed within hours
sometimes!!

Depends on the crawlability of your site and also the backlinks that you have built for your site. If those backlinks are from frequently crawled (dofollow) blogs, forums, sites, etc. - your new content will get indexed faster.

What do you mean by crawlability? What is the stragy to achieve and how do you measure it?
