People usually want to know basic things before they do business with you. Who are you, how do I get a hold of you, what is your product or service guarantee, will you resell my email address, what is your privacy policy, when will I get the product, etc. You need to answer these questions to create trust between you and your potential customer.

Right! Doesn't hurt to have a good FAQ page or "About Us" page to take care of answering these questions. Making that page very easy to find is a good idea as well.

I have a FAQ and a about us page on my site.

I had a professional writer who is also a friend of mine to write the about us page. He has known me for a long time and has in the past worked for our business. So it was rather easy for him to come up with a About us page. It's quite a good read too.

I think an about us is important. You should state some facts about your business. What do you do? How do you try to serve your customers well? Youc an also give a little history on your business as well. Show people that you have stability and are not a fly by night business.

It is important to note that while a lot of sites are including contact links on the about us page is is best to still have a contact page or a contact page link in your menu which goes back to the about us.
