Yeah, that's the sole downside to this deal. The prices, which were already extremely high, are going to skyrocket! That and the fact that there are hardly any alternatives. Jasc Paintshop Pro is still around, but it's not of high quality.

I thought Paintshop Pro was still considered a pretty good alternative, but maybe I'm wrong. One of my former partners in business went to high school with the guy who wrote Paintshop Pro. I used to use it before I got Photoshop, which is definitely better but not 8 times better like its price is .

I hope Adobe does come out with some combined offerings, but it looks like right now they're content to leave them as separate entities. Hope Adobe doesn't do any rash with any of the Macromedia titles.

i think it is a good thing, one of the main problems for webmasters is there are so many variants involved in designing and producing a website, hopefully this merger will iliminate some of them.

Paintshop Pro is a good alternative for Photoshop, considering the other alternatives.

Paintshop Pro is affordable, but it doesn't produce images as appealing as those that Photoshop produce.
