Default Adobe and Macromedia Merge..

hey,

I know this is old stuff, but i was thinking about this the other day, and was wondering "what is the next peice to be developed"

Basically what im getting at, is i would love to see a program that i can design in (PS) but i can also start developing my flash through..

I know its not really that hard to have both open and just minimise one window.. but just think about how much easier it would end up making yours and my design sections..

But one thing that crossed my mind was..

"how much "

I can easily say for such a product, would ultimatly empty my pocket lol

anyway, just wondering what your thoughts are in regards to the take over of macromedia by adobe and what you think the benefits and downfalls to this will be.

Daniel.

I thought it was a good move on Adobe's part especially. They're an established company (not that Macromedia isn't, but Adobe's been around forever) and yet they needed something extra to keep it alive in the marketplace with one of their major processes (PDF making) now being co-opted by others.

Likewise, it was a good move for Macromedia to tap into the market that Adobe has built through some of its more basic customer level. I guess what I mean is that a lot of people know the name Adobe, but not as many know about Macromedia, unless their in our type of business.

Now if they could only bring the price of product down, I'd be really happy about the merger too! I'm not holding my breathe though, as both companies are in the high price range, but do deliver excellent products.

^ very much agreed on all parts..

one thing i just thought about was, maybe adobe bought it with the intension to merge the products to create a higher end development software, but what if now after going overstats and business issues and everything that they find it would be more benficial to continue producing each product on its own accord..

but thinking again now in turn even if they do go with the above theory it will end up merging into 1 - 3 different products..

man my brains going crazy thinking of the options. :P

oh dont get me wrong i think it will be great.. but hopefully in the near future they drop there prices..

One thing i thought of as to why their prices might have been so high, was competition... hopefully they dont put the prices up seeing as they dont really have a need to compete (in terms of price range)..

im not sure about it.. lol im not sure about alot of things..

I think I read somewhere a few months ago that they will be releasing a big package deal eventually, for example macromedia studio bundled with adobe software like photoshop etc.

A design product that integrates Flash elements and/or allows you to export your design directly into Flash will definitely go for a large amount of money. Usually, Photoshop goes for $600+. I'll say that such a program would go for about $750+.

yeh.. definatly, for Adobe suit its around $1100+/- depending. hence the reason its so steep..

but in the near future hopefully we will see some action in regards to this topic then we can really sit down and discuss this thing further eh? :P

What more could Adobe do to enhance its products? Maybe you'll be able to export a sliced template from ImageReady to Dreamweaver, after you've exported it to ImageReady from Photoshop. I think it's likely that they'll do something along those lines. It would be a most enjoyable feature.

This is a great thing for Adobe, but I don't think this is such a great thing for consumers. It seems as if Adobe will now be able to raise the price of their software, because they really are without any competitors. Macromedia was once a competitor, but no longer is.
