I have seen a animated favicon at pokelondon.com, but thats the only site I've seen.

OK, I'm probably dumber than a post, but ... I'm in IE right now and I can see it rotating. Did I miss something in the discussion - 'cause I thought people were saying you can only see it in Firefox. Maybe I've got SUPER-DUPER IE (the next version .... super secret ... need a decoder ring to read the directions for installation)

It's only worth your time if the majority of your visitors are using Firefox 1.5 otherwise there's not much point. Have a look through your web stats and review it.

Really...what are the benefits of having an animated favicon? I see no benefits whatsoever. When they worked on Firefox, they could have put that time into something more effective.

This can only increase spam. That favicon is fine, but imagine another one that changes colors repeatedly, orange black, green, yellow. etc.
