Default Best Design software?

Dreamweaver 8 is all i hear these days, which software do you use, in conjunction which others?

Reason i am asking this is i am currently thinking on building a site myself, rather than outsource it .... Probably more stupid than brave!

Anyway i would love to hear your pro's and con's and fav sites visited for inspiration...

Design - I would say maybe Expression Design, but if you want something compared to Dreamweaver (actually better I think) is Expression Web

If someone is very new in website, i'd advice them to use Frontpage and play with it. Designer i'd advice to go for Dreamweaver. One advantage on Dreamweaver is that you can view it both coding and the layout graphically. So if you dont know about coding but want to be serious about it then Dreamweaver is good.

Programmers don't like it since Dreamweaver sometimes tend to jumble up the codings. Although nothing is wrong on the surface, it's different when you want to integrate or change it to php or asp etc. Experienced coders tend to use notepad only, matrix guys. hehe.

I use Adobe Photoshop to create the visual design of how I want web site to look like. Then I slice it into separate images and code it in Valid XHTML 1.0 Strict in Dreamweaver. You could simply use notepad to code the site, however I like to use Dreamweaver better because it gives me a better work environment and I can see what my code is producing as I work on it.
