Default Can a website be too big

Do you think a website can ever be too big that it just offers too much to look at?

Many websites are still publishing content that is not core to their business. The justification is that such content will indirectly deliver benefit. This is not a good idea. Focus on the content that is directly applicable to your organization’s objectives. Any other content confuses. It wastes time and money.

My first website was over 100 pages and expanding before I realized I had a life.

As a site visitor, I don't want to get overwhelmed by too many articles to read. I prefer sites with short contents but substantive and direct to the point. It's all about productivity.

I agree weblogs should be focused.
Also sites with too many content tends to confuse the visitor.
Maybe organizing the posts?

So it sounds like most people think that there can be a point when a website gets to be a little too much.

Depends on what purpose am I surfing the website for. However, in most cases I think more pages are usually better other than the other way round, especially for websites offering entertainment and some form of education.

A website absolutely can be too big. Rather than a big website, the ones worth returning to are those constantly updated, and those with a largely populated message board community as well.

As long as it is well organized and easy to navigate, I don't think a site can be too large. Issues come when useability is affected.

I don't mind large sites as long as the content is related and the site is well mapped out and easy to navigate. The sites I tend to find annoying are the ones where the webmaster has a page for each and ever one of his or her personal interests, whether they relate to the main point of the site or not. For instance, I don't mind going to a writer's advice website and finding one hundred articles about writing and the writing business, but I do mind going to a writer's website and finding fifty articles about writing, three about travel, six about the cute thing the author's German Shepherd did the other day...ou get my meaning.
