Default Colours

Having a multi-colored background will make your text very hard to read, as will a bright solid color. Also, stay away from black background even if it would seem cool. Many colors jump on the eyes from black background, and after a while such a page gets tiring to view. The best solution is to have a light background and darker text on it.

Colour is an individual preference. But, It has an affect on people's mind. If you have a financial investment site, then conservative colors seem to follow. If you sell beach items, then lots of fun colors apply. If you have a bridal shower website, I would say soft pastels. Think about your audience and you will know the color scheme.

Good points!

I have found that a multi-colored background can be ok, if it is VERY VERY light. The eye/brain will still see the pattern or picture you have chosen, but it will be unobtrusive enough that the text is legible.

I usually go for settle softer colors. Also the colors are generally to my taste and my liking. I know some may sound this is bad, but I was check with other people first to see what they think.

Yes certain colors and designs do make it difficult to read the content of the website. Some colors can be used somewhere on your website however to try to call visitors to a desired action (such as making purchases).

This is very true -- and important. I like checking out the palettes on COLOURlovers Coup.0 :: Colour Lovers to see what type of colors go really well together. You have to pay attention to how colors make you feel when you look at them too.

I think, light background with dark text works better.

If you're having trouble figuring out what colors to use, maybe you will be inspired by this fun animation that shows you what each of the colors represent and what moods they can give. It's helpful in deciding what color is for you, so check it out COLOR IN MOTION.

Thanks for posting this website. It's cute I like the intro and how the website is set up. I'm going to play around with this a little more.

Remember, when building a website, you must always have smooth, blending colours, nothing too sharp. Be consistent in your design, make it pleasing to view.
