| Feature Implentations I am working on a website idea, that I had a design up and created, but the color scheme was too dark to give off a professional appeal. Anyways, I am going to be re-designing it with my brother, but I was first wodnering hoow I should implement a Buying and Selling section.
Do you guys think that it would be better to make it just ahve a forum, where members post, or try to get a seperate system. I am leaning towards getting a seperate system, but if I could find a module to make the designated forum appear differently and fit what I need for PayPal links, etc but have it all in a designate area, not have it just in the post. I think I am going to get VBulletin, I just need the money.
What do you all think? |

| Re: Feature Implentations What is it you are selling? Depending on what it is, some products are fit for selling in a forum format, and some are not. |

| Re: Feature Implentations O, I am sorry I didn't state this earlier, the only business relation the site has to me is that I will be placing adson the site, and possibly charge for other fees. It will be a site where graphic and web designers can sell their products, and I will possibly have a "featured product" or other misc. fees that I can apply for special features, but the service will be free. There will also be a community, hopefully VBulletin if I can savage up the money. I don't know which way would be easier to either have them post on a forum, and lose out on the additional fees because I don't believe there is a module out for that, or use a seperate software where I would have to put the forum on the same database, and make sure that works fine. |

| Re: Feature Implentations Well, a forum could be used, as SitePoint does, but I do agree that a separate system might look better, and be easier to use. But like you are saying, I am not sure if there is anything else out there off-the-shelf. |

| Re: Feature Implentations Is this going to be like an auction type system to buy and sell, if so I have just the product for you, although it may take a little time to get yourself in the vibe of implementing the design into the software. |

I also would like to have an area where members can create their own live portolfio on my website for those that are less fortunate, so I will either have to look into getting a module where members can create their own page using a blank skin (but I would like to make a custom skin using CSS colors and images through revising an old skin), or I would have to try to work something out with some type of CMS.
See, there are a lot of things that I don't know what would be best, so i need opinions and input, any help is deeply appreciated. |

| Re: Feature Implentations I know a great auction software, everything the same as eBay, its called PHP Pro Bid (I was going to use it in my planning stages of starting an online auction site and there new Version 5.24 is well well WELL feature packed.) Its $200 though and there are authors on their forum that write contributions for it (like custom member's section and all that, they stopped providing to the public so now you have to of had purchased the software in order to view the forums so I am not up-to-date with it.)
But if you have the money, get it, I highly recommend and if you don't want it, hell, I'll buy it off you and I'm real about that.
Or you can get the phpBB forum added and setup the phpBB-Auction modification as an addon, good addon but only accepts PayPal payments only. |

Phpbb Auction seems like a good module that I might have to deeply look into, and PayPal is fine, I just have to talk to a few people to get things worked out. |
