I thought fireworks was dropped from production during the Adobe buyout. All the products that macromedia was dominant in were kept and the adobe counterparts were phased out and vise versa, I don't use fireworks since I find photoshop more helpful and powerful. There are studios who used it because of it's close ties to dreamweaver.

I'm a hardcore user of Photoshop, and prefer it over anything else as far as graphics go. Adobe hasn't dropped Fireworks though. It's included in the new CS3

I have just finished a short-term course in Flash and I am excited to practise what I have learned. Right now, I am looking for someone to accept me for an internship job in graphics designing, web designing, flash, etc. I really love to learn more of these things.

Ive used both Fireworks and Photoshop and i have to say Photoshop beats Fireworks by miles, the filters and all the extra tools that come with Photoshop are very handy for me .

I think Photoshop is really great! For flash, please try swishmax. It's easy to use.

Photoshop has become an industry standard. However, features and intuitive use are still the best factors that makes a suite popular. If there would be anything that would be better (more features etc.), it will come out eventually as the best one. It's best to stick with the one you are familiar with.
