Default Links

Ensure that the links that are put on your website work and that your website is easy to navigate. For example, endless links that go nowhere can cause frustration and deter people from your website. S, always check all the links before publishing the website.

There are also some good link checkers available around the Web. You can look through a variety of them here.

Dreamweaver 8 has a built in link checker. Flash does not yet.

I appreciate this effort. This is a very good idea and I think it should be done. Always better to check for dead links before publishing. I only knew of one way and that is to ask visitors to report dead link.

Not only should you check dead links before publishing, but periodically after it is published as well. That is, if you link to other sites outside of your own. You don't want them pointing to sites that have disappeared.

I found one for which I signed up- Linktiger.com - the free version will check up to 1000 links on a site, and they email you the results. Very nice!

That is a good point because I have repaired sites where that has happened for no apparent reason

Nice thought. It is quite common to go to a website and think you found what you've been searching hours for and it come up phony or error-ridden.

Nice post.
