Default Template vs. Coded

What do you prefer? Would you rather make a website from scratch, no images, just coding work?

Or would you rather open up Photoshop, design your site and slice it up into a bunch of images?

I think making a template in Photoshop is easier.

I think designing a template on Adobe Photoshop is a lot easier than coding. Well, that's my opinion, it may not be for good. I know a lot of good coders that specializes mainly in the coding category and they have very little knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, therefore...they'll rely on their knowledge with coding.

I prefer the latter because I'm a web designer. I like to play around with my design; move things here, change shapes there, add color everywhere. When I'm done, I slice it and put it up.

it depends on what the website is, if it is an e-ccomerce or affilaite site i will design it and then slice it but if it is an information site and will be alot simply in design I will just hand code it.

I think it's definitely nicer to do as much custom design work for your website as possible for you. You just get a much better outcome in the end and people will respect that you put time and money into your design and are more likely to return to your website.

In my point of view,

Designing in photoshop is better ,
Becouse, you can make anything you would really want to,
No limits, And the visitors will see your site as something custom and unique.

Then again, loading time..
Coding a site look, will make the site load faster, and will help users with slow connections allot.
But if you do some good slicing in photoshop, you can make sure that you only use the images needed.
And the result will be about the same.

Thats my point of view.

I'm not a designer so I wouldn't really know. On the basis of coding other peoples designs I'll usually slice a certain section of the design first, such as the header, then code it. Then move onto the next part of the design and so on.

I have no graphic talent, so photoshop layouts end up a mess for me.

I prefer to work on the code myself.

It makes more sense to draw it out first, I think. Photoshop isn't even necessary. I think it's better to have something solid instead of playing around with html for hours before getting an idea. Why not just start out with the idea first? That would make coding a lot easier.

I always start in photoshop because I find it easier to get a visualisation there than in html.

Also even if I do a website that will be mostly html, I will still have some graphics for rounded corners, logo etc.
