Default Use of Flash

What do you all think about the use of flash in websites? I think it's better left for like diagrams and tutorials and websites should be strictly HTML and images. What do you think about flash?

The only time I would use Flash for a whole site is a mini-product site - like what car companies and new movie releases usually have.

Flash is something that I would use if I am really trying to showcase something. I think it has to fit in well with your intended audience.

Sometimes I just think it used unnecessarily (sp?) for things that could be done with some CSS and simple JavaScript. What some people don't realize is that any of the content within the flash environment can't be crawled by search engines either.

In addition...development is expensive and time consuming. I'm not a huge a fan unless you are purposely trying to do some type of glitzy presentation.

I believe Google can read text from Flash files, as long as it is text and not converted to a symbol.

However it wont be as good as plain text, and many search engines cant read from Flash.
