What attracts you to a website?

I was curious of what attracts you guys to websites? Portfolio or business related sites alike.

What really catches your eye, or what makes you want to throw up?

What attracts me to a website is normally google but what keeps me on the site is a professional layout and good navigation.

If i cant find what i am looking for after 2-3 clicks i get bored and go to another site.

Also if the site looks like it has been put together by a kid in a couple of minutes i wont trust the information to be accurate.

A good, clean, and professional web design keeps me from closing my browser window after a first glance, but I also agree with darren that good navigation is very important and plays a large factor in whether or not I choose to keep going.

Content primarily but if the design, navigation or usability is too bad I click back.

Definitely a clean design helps but if the site isn't somehow creative, I'll probably click the back button. Creativity is underrated

Having a site that is legible is the first thing, clean design ect.

Good Content comes a close first, its always the first thing I look at bar the site design.

Colour and formatting is another thing that I almost immediately pick up on.

I agree, but can bad coding make you fall away from the site as much as a bad design?

I don't think so. However, if it is so poorly coded that the website takes forever to load then you'll definitely click the 'ol X button. So another thing that attracts me to a website is fast loading. It's 2006 and websites should be loading within a second.
