Default XHTML vs HTML

Just wondering what your preference was on whether to code a site in XHTML or HTML. Both have there benefits really, but in the end which is the easiest and overall best?

I don't really see any benefits with HTML. XHTML can do everything HTML can do, but better. I really recommend that people stop using HTML and move on to XHTML. It's not only the future, makes more sense when coding, easier to use, but it's also the new Web Standard.

Except it's not new standard.

Take a look at these reasons.
