Question CSS Hacks

I have heard a lot about CSS Hacks being bad becuase they depend on browser flaws to do the work rather than good coding and they won't validate; it's why I don't use them. A lot of people do use them though which has me questioning my opinion.

Are they bad form? Does anybody but cellar dwelling web geeks (me for instance) care if a web page "validates" so long as it works? And lastly is there really a whole lot of danger of your hack suddenly not working?

Default Re: CSS Hacks

You generally have designers that fall into one of two boats: 1) Everything must validate perfectly. 2) Everything must look right on the major browsers.

I agree with #2, as long as the site downgrades for minor browsers without losing functionality.
