Default OO & Frameworks for PHP

I'm curious how many people use OO PHP and Frameworks like CakePHP / Biscuit. If I were writing an app in PHP today, I'd be interested in using OO and CakePHP.

Do you use or have you looked at OO and / or a Framework for PHP? If so, what was your experience? If not, why not?

I don't understand OO too well.
I once downloaded CakePHP and found it a waste, not sure.. Never really got it working .. They are just fake ROr's

I've heard a few negative remarks about CakePHP, and a few positive.

I also don't have much experience with OO.

I looked into Zend, but thought it was more hassle than it was worth. Some of the extra stuff like source obfuscation might be nice to stop people ripping off code that you do for them, but thats about it.

That sounds very useful. That's in Zend, right? Can you link me to a site that summarizes Zend?

Never played with CakePHP, however, about 4 years ago I wrote an OO "model" for a basic environment to develope within. I still use the same framework today (modified over time) to manage just about everything (including Database connections, form generation & processing, bug tracking, etc). It's worked real well for me (and clients I've developed things for).
