Most of the time, I would learn to do it myself. If I still failed to complete the task as to what I wanted, then outsourcing would be next option.

I guess it is depend on what you like to achieve. Along the way, wouldn't it be better by doing it ownself and pick up some knowledge and skills? Well, it cost time and effort but the benefit is long term as I prefer not always have to spend for coding task as I don't have much budget on it.

I've yet to ever run into a point where I couldn't do something because of my abilities.

However, generally if someone can do it as good as you can for less cost, outsource it.

It really depends on your time and resources. If you think you have the patiencce to learn code from scrathc, then you should do iyt. Eventually, this will help you the most.

If your time and effort in the present is better off devoted to something else like the growth of your business or management oin general, then it is better to outsource. Its a good option since there are a lot of professionals who are aiming for businesses like you.

I think it depends on what you're coding. If it HTML/CSS I think outsourcing is fine, but if you're talking about PHP (or other server side coding) that is unique to your website, then you have to think about how important it is to have the knowledge associated with that code in the brain of an employee versus being outsourced.

My recommendation is to learn how to code it. I find outsourcing a really really bad idea, because:

1. You don't know how well it was done
2. It may have several security issues
3. You won't be able to modify it
4. You won't know how to improve it or implement it in another way
5. It makes your brain lazy

And I've found that when you are thinking about how to code it, more ideas come to your mind, you get more creative and develope something far better than what you were thinking at the beginning.

I would hire a programmer ONLY if I know how to do what he's going to do and I don't have the time to do it myself.

This is just my opinion...
