Is it possible to set a cookie so that it lasts forever, rather than have a specific timestamp? I understand it's pointless to have one that lasts forever; domains and cookies change overtime. But still, it's something that I've thought about. I also understand a timestamp such as "2448974563466907697456" will last for a decade or so, which is virtually forever, but I mean for eternity.
Not that I know of - and there isn't much reason to have it last that long. It's a pretty good bet that in 5 years someone will either clear cookies, change browsers, change OS'es, or even change computers.
Anything over a year (well, in my opinion, a month) is just stupid.
I agree, but I've been thinking as to how you could set it to forever, if at all possible. It could possibly open doors to other ideas. You never know.
