I have a client you has been using a microsoft clip art graphic for her logo. She loves it but does not know if she should add it to her web site.

Do you know that laws regarding MS clipart?

If the clip art is public domain, she can use it no problem . The thing is other clip arts may be seen as public domain but actually are copyrighted. Anyway, if she has tweaked the design or edited it to her taste, it becomes a whole new design now owned by the editor.

On the other hand, very few logo owners would opt for a clip art design in their logo. Some perceives it as tacky but maybe it just depends on presentation and execution. Anyway, custom logo design can be bought for cheap price nowadays so if she wants that choice, its not a big damage to the pocket.

i don't think that she should get an approval from microsoft to use a clipart logo! make sure that you dont make it from a pirated copy of microsoft office.

I believe that if she owns a copy of the microsoft software she can use the clipart anyway she wants.
