I was wondering how many of the people here pay tax for their online ventures. I know quite a few people don't report the money that they make online, so we'll keep this poll anonymous.
Accountants are indeed great with finding things to deduct and maximising tax returns.
I will be honest here and say I declare most things.
There are times where I will get cash in hand without receipts and sure, I use that as pocket money.
It is best to keep these things quiet, not just because of legal implications...
I know someone that keeps about £10k laying around the house and recently got robbed, they didnt find it all but must of been annoying all the same. Then he couldnt even report it because he might of got in trouble for tax evasion (not to mention how he obtained it).
I'm a good boy who reports all of his taxes. I don't want to get in trouble with the IRS, because I hear that's worse than going to jail. I'd rather report that measily few hundred dollars I made selling a small website than have to deal with the IRS.
You're shooting yourself in the foot, inevitably, if you don't pay your taxes - however, that doesn't mean you can't do everything possible to get the maximum exemptions and deductions.
I try to report everything. I know a lot of people who have their own business and do not report some of their jobs. I'd rather report everything than have the IRS come knocking on the door later. I have heard that is less than a pleasant experience and so it is one I will try to avoid.
