Default How to respond to theft?

I don't have a big problem with theft, but it happens. What I have a problem with is that there doesn't seem to be anything that I can do about it when it does happen. The FBI won't accept a report, they dump it to my local police. My local police department can't do anything about a customer on the opposite coast. Doing nothing swallows hard. I would like it if there was something that I could do. Even if it was only to enter something into the credit report of the individual involved.

Does anyone know of anything that can be done in the case of an Internet customer who uses a false credit card? Or one that just gets angry and returns a product that they broke then denies the charge?

In both cases, contact the credit card company and get them to take action. Of course, always protect yourself using escrow or some other buyer protection system.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, I spent a day trying to contact anyone who carred at the credit card companies when I discovered a credit card that we stolen before I tried to charge it. In this case, the recipient of the merchandise used someone elses credit card. The actual credit card holder did not receive the merchandise and correctly denied the charge. At that point, I was left with a name and address of a thief and no one who carred about it and apparently nothing I could do. Do you know of a way to contact the credit card companies that works?

Well, if there is a chargeback you need to understand that the it was Fraud or someone trying to scam you. This is been done to me a couple of times using VIA Paypal. I did report ito the FBI and Paypal's Fraud Team. They told me that since my company isn't a Registered Company I can't do no actions unless the Card Holder does an action to the problem. Most of the time they don't do nothing unless you have enough proof that it was fraud and/or who it was and where is his/hers location. The best you can do is just Contact the Credit Card Fraud Team and report it to them. If you are using Paypal contact there Fraud Team and report it to them. Most likely they won't do nothing and just add it to there reports. If you want to fight it all the way it will be hard, really hard since you are not a Registered Company.

Sorry but most likely you will lose against fraud.
