Logos on Websites, legal?

My client is wondering if he can have a webpage with a list of his previous clients, and display their logo. Is this legal, or does he need to obtain their permission to display their logo on his website? it seems like everyone does it now without permission, but I could be wrong...

Well I figure it like this. If he created them then he owns full rights to the logos and full rights to display them... the only way I'd see him not being able to is under 2 conditions:

1. He gave up full rights to the website owner of the logo/template (assuming it is a web design business he does)
2. Or if the images and graphics are copywritten (I'm once again assuming a web design business)

Any other topic of clients, I don't see why he couldn't... I mean after all they should think of it as a blessing for more traffic

He didn't make the logos. He owns an educational company and would like to display the logos on his website of those who have used his service.

IIRC, They have the right to deny him from displaying any of their copyrighted/trademarked material on his website. He should be able to call the company and get permisssion though.

Why call though, tell him to shoot an email requesting permission.) Just tell him to make it so he can CC to all of them and let them respond back. Other then that, not sure what else.

Tell him to ask the clients, most clients are fine with him showing off their designs as his past work. Take the guy that designed these forums, vbulletinskinz.com

That is the accepted way of doing it.... call them and get permission.... they can ask you to remove them at any time

No i dont think that it'll be a prob.coz there'z no wrong if they were his clients before.
