Default No Payment

What would you do or what actions would/could you take if someone absolutely did not make a payment to you that they owed?

Well, I'm not completely sure because I don't think that have ever happened to me before. I've been to a lot of forums and a lot of members had this problem. Some ask for advice and some end up making an agreement with the person who doesn't sell. Other times, well, you know what happens.

Id send them an email and try and find out why and if you could come to some sort of agreement.

Then i would send a letter, doing the same (its always good to have something down on paper)

Then i would get my lawyer to send a letter.

Hopefully that would work.

That's a good point about having something down on paper and sending not only an email but a letter to see why they haven't paid or how the issue can be resolved.

Do you have a contract with them? It can sometimes be a very long sought out process to get the payment you deserve.

May I ask what the payment is for, and by what method method they were to pay?

iI've also wondered how to go about getting the payment. I've never been in a situation like this, but I'm afraid I might be someday. I'd like to be preapred for that fateful day.

I was actually talking about if a person does not make a final payment. A lot of people do not charge a client 100% of the fees up front.

Do it this way...

50% payment upon start of the work. The other 50% when the client is happy with the work, then send over any relevant files to the client. You have the money, the client has the files. All is well.

That works, but you'll always meet at least one stubborn client that won't send you the money until you send the files. I'm thankful I haven't met that one client yet.
