| Run away clients... So...
I have a client, who's paid his 50% down payment to commence the project.
1 month later, it's finished - ready to go, and had been revised to his likings. However, it's been 2 months since he's been able to pay the final 50% (never again will I deal with the gaming community).
Am I obligated to keep this layout reserved for him? Or can I give him a 1 month warning, and then he loses the deal? So that way, I can resell the project. What should I do?
Bryan

The Graphic & Website Design forum is intended to be more of an actual discussion of graphic design, etc.
That's a really sticky situation. Did you transfer the files? If not, I would email him with a month warning stating that if he doesn't pay the other half, you will resell the layout and keep the down payment. And by the way, the 1 month warning is just to be nice, many designers would sell it the week after.
Good luck.

Good luck. | Totally agree, if he is unable to finish the payments then he should not be given the product. Business ethics come into play and i think that one month is a large enough time for him to realize the situation and evaluate what he is going to do. Hope the sale works out for you! |

| Re: Run away clients... I would give him 30 days to get caught up and pay you. After that time I would say it is your right to resell and not to wait any longer for him to pay. It sounds like you are being more than fair with him. I hope you get your money! |

| Re: Run away clients... If it where me bryan I would give him a final notice via email about the design, and give him a month to collect funds.
If he then still can't come up with it dont give him the product. I mean why should you send him a product with only half a payment? I mean rule of thumb you could give him half the layout for half a payment.

You are still entitled to keep the 50%. Its a shame you worked for the rest of the money but were never paid.
Have you actually contacted him? If so, what does he say? |

| Re: Run away clients... I would send him a vinal ultamatum that if he does not pay for it within the next week that you will use it at your own discresion for anyone else that wants it. Make sure that you tell him this so he cannot complain later. I think it is perfectly fair of you to use it for someone else. |

Bryan | Maybe tell him, he has 1 month to bring the money. And then if he doesnt. Inform him if he wants this layout he gets it without the deal you provided him with. Im sure my post helped your situation. |

Bryan | It's already been two months, call him up and give him 72 hours notice. If he doesn't pay within 72 hours take your final product and resell it. |
