depending on who you host with, fantastico has some great easy install options and they come standard with many deluxe hosting packages.

Offer a 3 way strike:

1) Chat
2) Email/Ticketing
3) Phones

I like kayako support suite, that'll cover you on 1 and 2. For 1800 system, plenty good guys out there. The chat system kayako has is extensive with canned responses, recording, unlimited users, and remote desktop support.

We developed our own program as well so that we could do a few extras with it. But there is also BoldChat and LivePerson - BoldChat has a free version as well.

I use BoldChat.. It may not be the cheapest but it's a good client and does what it's meant too.

Also it has some nifty little features also, which I yet have to explore.

We use Shine Live Help, it’s a free open-source software. I like it because it works with our CRM, Sugar. Helps keep all of our customers information in location.
