Default Live Chat Software

Im getting ready to purchase this for one of my sites and am looking for any recommendations from you all on live chat software. Im using a free trial from phplivesupport.com currently and I like it. Im just wondering if anyone has used this or have any others that you use or have used.

The one I'd suggest would be the one that a partner and I have created over the past few years. Of course, it requires IRC on the backend, and Java for clients - so its not the greatest thing in the world.

Look for one that uses AJAX on the front-end (for clients).

I'd also at the same time recommend one with AJAX (or use PHP Live Support and have it integrated with AJAX.) But then again, make sure you ALERT your customers/clients if they don't have JavaScript enabled then the chat will not work.

'Em, as far as recommendation... let's see, http://www.helpcenterlive.com is a good FREE software that I believe uses AJAX. Only issue with it is that the source is open code so it may be somewhat bad to use (unless you encode it... that's the strongest belief I think can protect software. Its de-cryptable, but could get whoever de-crypts it into very high legal troubles, even if it isn't copywritten.) And plus, I am not sure, but I think its $50.00 for the Windows Desktop Client. Don't quote me on that, but check the site and double-check.

PHPLiveSupport.com is well known in the industry. Personally, I'm against live support unless you can truly monitor it 24/7. If not, people will think that you don't have good support.

I agree with you on the 24/7 support thing. However with my site it is usually monitored from 8am-10pm and all of my customers are in the U.S. so I dont get many visitors in the middle of the night.

Thanks for the responses everyone.

That is true Spencer... guess that's where outsourcing (to cover all timezones) comes in... right

Well, since my last post, I'd have to say my favorite would be Talisma (http://www.talisma.com) but don't think its cheap, you need a SERIOUS cash flow in your business for it (try $700.00 PER OPERATOR) --- wow.

I got a great free one from NeoWORX... the people who do NeoEarth... it is a VERY simple little bit of code to put on your site!

I like HCL, only thing I hate is that operators have to use their web browser sometimes which is an inconvenience. Either way, like I'm trying to start now though is my cash flow note broker business which I only need maybe 1 or 2 people to run (me and somebody else... but it won't be for a while cause I'd need that person to be able to handle it from 9am-5pm which will be good as a home-based job and I'd pay them on an hourly basis... if business is good I'm talking maybe $10.00 an hour) which is almost $600-$800 a week, just for sitting at your home computer and monitoring the chat and assisting anybody needing help.

On top of that, I'm thinking a nice $200 BONUS for each client that you get who needs service. HA HA, Anybody interested?
