What I am looking for is to build an intranet to allow my project teams to collaborate with vendors, partners and each other.Am currently going through several portal development software services for collaboration and document management.
I have looked and Windows SharePoint Services as well as some others and am still trying make up my mind. Almost all of the services offer hosted services offer a free 30 day trial. What are you guys using and what do you recommend ?

It really depends on your needs. I am working on a sharepoint website for one person but Microsoft has a lot of other products - Dynamics, Project Server, etc. They issued about 5 or six products with the word collaborate in them.

The Sharepoint site I am working on - it is more just for a demontration for another website. We just installed Microsoft CRM as well and should be implementing that this weekend. It looked like a really nice product

I really, really dislike Sharepoint and do not recommend it at all.

As weird as it may sound, a lot of CRM systems that were once traditionally used as sales force management tools have a lot of built in project management functionality. We use SugarCRM and have been extremely pleased with it, especially considering there's an open source version.
