I would have to vouch for Microsoft Projects; it is by far one of the better designed Microsoft product...I know it may sound oxymoronic, but it is true, you'll love it.

Well, Microsoft designed a good project system, but what if he wants to cater to clients to view as well beside just him?

He actually said most of them are too complicated, so I 'd say good old Microsoft Project should do the job!
