Hey ya'll,

I'm in the hunt for task management software to mange my projects and day-to-day business tasks. I've looked into many already but haven't found what I'm looking for. What do you guys use, or any recommendations? Thanks!

Have you look at 37Signal's Basecamp?

I'd say if you want me to recommend, I suggest a couple, although they are $1,000 and + on most of them.

My choice for if your looking for something that is remotely hosted... $39.00 a month but good, WebAsyst (http://www.webasyst.com) --- but if your looking for open-source, your just in luck, I have one for you.

dotProject - http://www.dotproject.net --- its an open-source project management software and believe me, its feature packed. The design is okay and easily navigatible but looks bad taste to me in a way, IDK why, guess cause of the old-school Windows feel it has. Anyway, hope I've helped.

I have worked through Basecamp and it's a great option.

Microsoft Project + Outlook (Notes, Calendar, and Tasks) works like a charm.

As you say you've looked into many already, it would be useful to know what it is that you need that the ones you have tried don't do?

Most are too complicated or too expensive. I like basecamp but its too simple and i would prefer other features such as gantt charts and time allocation. a full featured calendar is also something i've been looking for. A lot are clunky as wlel and have poor interfaces which are slow or clumsy to use.

dotProject has these, but on topic of poor interface... its not really poor, then again, not really graphical. I'll let you be the judge of that... check it out man and let me know what you think

PHProject works well, too. I've tested both dotProject and PHProject, and PHProject seemed to have more advanced features, if that's what you might need.
