I use a program called AdWatcher from MordComm.com. It's relatively inexpensive yet powerful and their service is excellent.

I wondered too when Google announced Analytics if this was the end of third-party web analytics, but I don't think so. Maybe I'm just the suspicious type, but I like to be able to see my data crunched by someone who doesn't have a vested interest in me paying more for advertising (Google for example). I'm not saying the data isn't good, just that there could be a potential for conflict of interest. I'd rather have a web analytics program that is independent of a search engine.

For those of you who use AWStats and Google Analytics (seems like the majority posting here), do you find any significant discrepancies in the data showing up in the reports you look at?

I've been using statcounter.com for a while, it provides the basic stats I need.

What I really like is the summary page, you can setup many projects, and have the daily stats for all your project on one page, makes it easy see what's going on across all my sites.

If you're after a decent free statistic site, I'd recommend ritecounter.com.
I've never tried Analytics - is it worth looking into?

Yes, its the best.
But you cant look into it if you dont have an account already. They are still not taking on new people.
I have no idea when they will be opening up the sign up's again.

I've been using statcounter. Its free, set to invisible, and tells me everything I can imagine I'd need to know. I can't imagine paying for a counter or traffic analysis tool.

I'm an AW STATS fan. I want to use google analytics, or even urchin, but I'm to lazy to install all the plug ins necessary.

I've heard of MINT though, and I'm not sure if I REALLY want to use it, but it does look very appealing.

Not entirely through choice, I am still with Webalizer - it is the only option provided with my hosting although I am starting to have a look at Google Analytics, not yet sure if it will be worth the effort for our site, but I will let you know how I fare if I try it.

Webalizer does look a bit old now, but it isn't so bad for some sites. The main things I am interested in from day to day is average unique visitors/day and referrers, and it records those well enough for me. It looks like I am in a minority in still using it though
