Default Why Internet Businesses Fail

Why Internet Businesses Fail

There are a fair number of reasons why Internet Businesses fail. I'm going to highlight a few in this article. I've noticed a lot of websites failing after less than a month, so I thought I would address this issue.

Got Goals? A Business Plan?

Be sure to plan out your business and set goals. What exactly are you looking to do with your business? How do you want it to progress? You don't need to set goals that are out of your reach, but they should stretch you.

Don't be Impatient!

If you don't reach goals on the schedule that you've laid out in your business plan, don't despair. Sometimes things just take longer to achieve. This doesn't mean that you're a failure or that your website is a failure, it just means that you need to work harder. It's true that sometimes you can just tell that your business is destined to fail, and then it is best to get out. But you need to give your business enough time to develop; don't sell or quit too early.

Competitive Advantage

You need to separate yourself from the herd. Unless you are doing something entirely new and ground-breaking, there's a good chance that someone else has done what you're doing before. Therefore, you need to find a way to be different. Study their website and see what you can do better than they do: the more unique the better.

Identifying Customers

Let's be candid: your website is not for everyone. It is important that you understand who it is for. By identifying your customers you can start to target your website's content, service, and product toward them. Try and get into your customer's head and think about how they would feel when visiting your website. What is it about your website that you can improve on to target their needs?

Marketing: Do It

You need to market your website. It is no longer possible just to put your website up and hope it gets visitors. You need to spend money to advertise your website and get the word out that you have a great product or service to sell. It is very important to put lots of time and money into advertising. A lot of websites out there fail within a month because their owner gets tired of promoting it. Why aren't they visiting? You haven't told anyone.

Some very good advice Super Mod.

Advertising is the key to a successful business. As boring as it may seem it gets results. Tell as many people about your site as you can.

Also knowing alot about your product & being able to talk about it openly helps.

Hi,

It is true that 95% or more internet businesses fail. There are many reasons, but I think these two are the most important.

1. A big one is that most people lack a proven system to build their businesses. Many think they do have one, because they've joined with someone who provides a website for them, with an autoresponder, etc.

That is not necessarily a system, it is just a replicated website. Just showing a website is not enough, you must have a system to attract people on a consistent basis, and offer them compelling and fresh information.

2. Passion. You must be in a business that you are passionate about. Many people want a home-based business, so they go online and poke around, choose one and try it for a while, doesn't work so they switch to another, and on and on.

In this scenario the person does not have passion about the business. Building a business is hard work, and if you do not have that passion and belief with you, you will get discouraged and fail. Happens every day.

For me, I have a primary business that helps the environment, a totally carbon-neutral company with a rock solid 50 year track record of providing natural toxin-free biodegradable products that every person on the planet can use every day. In order to make that business work, I have a proven system to draw people into my website where I can develop a relationship with them. These people now seek me out, rather than me having to chase people,, and the best people to be in business with are positive enthusiastic people who want to be with me.

Find a business that you are passionate about, find or create a proven system to assist you in attracting good people to you, and your chances of success will increase dramatically.

Cheers,
cmchome
