Default Do you really like your job?

Here is a article I found really interesting, I hope you like it

19 out of 20 people go to their job and don't know why...isn't that disgusting? "So I can pay the bills" is not a good enough reason.

Your job will rarely get you where you want to be in life, because the very purpose of your job is to get the owner where he or she wants to be in life, or to build their dream, and realize their why. And that's nice for the owner, but that usually doesn't translate into you getting all that you are worth or deserve. Because that owner can't afford to pay you what you are worth.

Now hold on, I know there is always someone who will say I LOVE MY JOB...ok great, go do it for free then.

But take this into consideration; If you are working a full time job, just 40 hours per week, you spend 2000 hours a year at a job. Add to that your commute time (about an hour each way) 2500 hours, that's 104 full 24 hour days of your year taken by someone else's dream. But more importantly that's almost 30% of your year taken away from reaching your dreams. If you take 2 weeks holiday and work NO OVERTIME! Statistics say that most people aren't taking holidays anymore, and almost everyone puts in overtime...

Back on the part about the commute, about an hour each way is average in North America, that's 500 hours of driving...or 12-1/2 40 hour work weeks EACH YEAR that you are not paid for, but relates to your job. Next time you are sitting in traffic to go build someone else's dream think about that, and ask yourself if that makes any sense at all. It used to make me so angry, as a matter of fact, it was one of my biggest motivators to get the job done in my business.

I hope this is motivating for you too; remember, we are motivated by pain or pleasure, and pain is usually a bigger one. After a long day at your job where everything goes wrong, and your contributions go unnoticed, followed by a crummy drive home this needs to be a reason to TAKE action, NOT take the night off.

Key Phrase: Your job is not who you are!

So now that you have this, what do you have to do?

Work harder on yourself than you do on your job; and that's going to be hard! Once you are in that rut of a job it's hard to get out, it's like being addicted to crack cocaine (so I hear) it's designed to trap you! I have always called it a disease...because when you think about it; it is contagious, everyone else has a job, so I will catch one too! And it truly does slowly kill you...for the most part.

You know when you get a job somewhere and you are working away, and working away, after a while they give you a raise, and now it's that much harder for you to leave then it was before. Pretty soon they put you in some management role with responsibility, now you need to work more...you caught a job, oh no!

Now you have 30% less time to develop yourself into what you want to become, to learn all you need to learn to be the person you are destined to be. As Zig Ziglar says: "You are endowed for greatness". I think we all are, but because we are robbed of most of our waking hours we can't be great. And that's what this disease is doing to people all over the world.

Work on yourself, like I have mentioned before; You need to be before you can do, you can do only to the extent of which you are, what you are depends on what you think. And, of course, we can't be until we think we can.

So become deadly serious about your success, work harder on yourself than you do on your job. Become a student of the industry and soak up all this information. By being involved in as much training as you can, by reading, and of course by teaching others!

Success is what you become in the process, it's not the money, the stuff, or the extra time...that goes back to cause and effect, having your perfect dream home is an effect of you being who you are meant to be...owning a Ferrari is the result of the person you have become, being able to golf 6 days a week is the reward for who you have become...being able to help complete stranger quit his or her job is what we all can do, if we wish to, and is my main focus every day!

The key is to stay focused on your dreams, your "why", no matter how off track you think you are. If you don't remember what you want out of life, you get lost, and never find your destiny. You will never realize your true potential, or be motivated enough to take the action. Your dreams paint your roadmap to reaching your full potential, realizing your goals and dreams, this is your path to greatness.

Good article and some good points. Many of the things you cite are the very reasons so many of us become entrepreneurs. If I'm going to spend 30%+ of my life doing something, I want it to benefit ME and be something I enjoy.

That makes me depressed. I don't care for my job much, but I have it just to pay the bills (go ahead take your shots). However, I'm always working on my time off to start up websites and what-not and build income from home, but I'm not there yet.

A thought provoking article. I really like being a TV producer, however, what I don't like is having to get up, leave my home and go and make money for someone else. That's why I'm making the transition from working for someone else to having a home based business. It really helps having great products and services to offer. Best of all, being able to create my own schedule really sets well with me.
