Which is the best payment gateways? And why?

For me PayPal is best for because
• No monthly fees.
• No setup fees.
• No cancellation fees.
• Its very secure and they have SSL certificate to buy some thing.
• Easy use and every site allowed PayPal as payment gateways.

Tell me yours.

I have found by far that paypal is the best payment processor. I believe this because of all the points you listed plus I have been dealing with them for about three years and I've never had a problem and they are so easy to set up.

I've processed tens of thousands of dollars in paypal transactions, BUT... i must choose google checkout. Here's why:

1) PayPal charges more than Google
2) PayPal is more of a consumer pain than google
3) PayPal doesn't insure you like they claim to insure you.
4) PayPal sucks when it comes to managing fraudulent customers

Now, here's why we use Google:

1) Easy to embed into your current website, even if you're using paypal as well
2) Every $1 spend on adwords gives you $10 of transactions. Meaning, for advertising to get business, your processing of them can practically come free.
3) Better fraud/legal management

For me i prefer two payments processor. One is Paypal and other one E-gold. I liked Paypal better than others because i used it since 2003 and i have no problems during this time.

I use E-gold for Get paid to site payouts only. E-gold has lots of hacking problems. So i don't like it.

I have both because of the different types of payments I am dealing with. I am new at this though. Many of the people i try to get involved with referals and such dont trust paypal or e-gold. Do they have good reason?

When your dealing online, unfortunately you need to have a payment processor of some kind. So, I think these people are just a little wary of programs that they haven't been involved with or they don't understand all the ins and outs of payment processors. They need to do their own research and then choose one that is right for them.

We use the electronic payment gateway LinkPoint along with a merchant account from First Data. First Data basically has some type of a process in more than 50% of all credit card processing world wide.

The best is relative because it depends on your location, monthly volume and what you are selling.

If you are only going to be using the account a few times a week, maybe selling under $1,000 a month - and not selling any type of adult content - 2Checkout and / or Paypal might be a good option.

If you are in the United States, selling more than $1,000 a month, a merchant account along with an electronic payment gateway (LinkPoint, Verisign's Payflow, Authorizenet.com) might be better suited for you. Using a merchant account, you money will be automatically deposited into your checking account withnt 24-72 hours of the transaction.

I personally use PayPal, as thats what most of my target audience use.

I have found that the fee's they take are starting to build up and are not cheap. I am going to look into alternate payment processors that I can use.

Since Paypal is not available in my country, I use e-gold and stormpay.

I prefer e-gold now over stormpay because it is fuss-free. Despite the hacking problems it faces, e-gold is still the most widely accepted payment structure.

That's true but since my target audience is the UK, 90% of my clients have no problem paying through pay pal, which I think is perfectly fine. I do have a money bookers account though just for the odd one or two who don't have pay pal.
