Default Paypal Website Payments Pro w/ Virtual Terminal

Does anybody have any experience with Paypal's Website Payments Pro and using their virtual terminal?

I am trying to find a solution where we can accept credit cards at our store (brick), and on our website (click).

I am not selling any kind of physical product (yet) using my website, yet. I am trying to be able to e-mail my customers an invoice, and have them click a link to go to my website, enter in their invoice # and amount that they would want to pay. At the same time, I'd like to be able to take credit card payments when I am with the customer using their computer or my laptop on their internet connection.

From what I understand, with Paypal's Payments Pro system, I need to get a shopping cart to make this work. I was wondering if there is any other way of doing it without using the traditional shopping cart system, such as a simple invoicing system. I do all of my accounting and invoicing using Quickbooks, but the website payments system does not necessarily have to be in sync with my Quickbooks (ie, when a customer enters in an invoice # and payment amount, I would do the leg work on my end when the payment comes in by applying it to their invoice.)

So far, I have not found another merchant system that will allow me to accept payments on my website of this nature and in person at the POS. Any tips?

Thanks in advance!

I have no experience with PayPal's Website Payments Pro, but why aren't you looking into your standard merchant account? Are you trying to keep everything in one account (i.e. PayPal?). I think it may be best to diversify into (1) PayPal and (2) business checking account through a Merchant. This can serve you well if your PayPal account becomes frozen for some stupid reason outside your control (this happens).
