Default secure transactions

A large portion of sales made on the website are paid for through credit cards. As a business owner it is up to you to ensure that these transactions are safe or secure for your customers. How do you provide security for your transactions? Do you use any specific software?

Max cut to the point here. You will want to set up a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) on your website.

You can purchase them from VeriSign, EV1Servers, and others.

It's possible, but they're usually that of the hosting company rather than your own. For example (not sure if they do actually offer it), Site5 SSL Verified, rather than {yoursite} SSL Verified.

Yes. A host can advertise eCommerce packages but to be honest, that's just a renamed large package unless the eCommerce software is built from their company, like Yahoo eCommerce Hosting. Some hosts may offer an SSL certificate as an incentive for signing up for a long term plan or a big package.

SSL certificates are fairly inexpensive. I suggest you read this thread.

Ok I think I see what everyone is saying now about IF a host were to offer SSL. Max, thanks for the link you provided for the thread too.
