Default What do you look for in a Merchant?

When searching for a Merchant Account, what do you look for? What are the most important things that you want? I look for price, reliability, and a good agreement without hidden terms.

Well, I'm sort of cheap, so one of the big things are: what are the fees? I don't want to pay too much per transaction, so that's a big issue for me. I'm also looking for a good terms of service, good support, and ease of use.

Fees and support for me. If I cant talk to someone on the phone about my money, then I give it a miss.

And if they want to charge all secret fees etc, I always give them a miss.

Initial cost, monthly and per transaction fees, and ease of integration with our billing system are all factors in choosing a gateway. We currently use Authorize.net and are very satisfied.

I want a merchant account that provides good prices (fair fees). They should be reliable and have a positive reputation to back them. I want to be able to contact customer service easily if there is ever a problem.

Costs are very important for me, but reliability and a good reptuation are also important, if i dont trust the company why should my clients?

Not only costs, but also the interface. We recently went through this with a new start up that I'm part of and ended up choosing WellsFargo (which could be considered "substantially" higher than anyone else with relatively the same benefits/features) because of the fact I love the company (for the most part, they're still a bank), and I love their web interface to manage everything.

I look for cost, ease of use, reasonable terms, and a good support system. You do not want to be stuck with a merchant that you cannot get in touch with.
