Default Will PayPal ever have a competitor?

I was wondering whether or not you thought that PayPal would ever have any competition? Back in the day, we never though that Yahoo or Altavista would have competition and Google came around. Do you think that PayPal will ever have any competition?

I think we pay see a competitor of PayPal eventually, but I don't know how soon. I think we'll see it sometime in the next two to four years, but not sooner than two years. I think it will take a lot of time for a competitor to establish themselves.

I think there will be a competitor someday to PayPal. I hope there is too. I like PayPal but there are those who have had problems with it. It's not a perfect system, of course none are. But yes I think in the future something will be launched that will be real competition for PayPal.

PayPal focuses alot on the US market... if a competing service was launched they could do well by offering all of the services paypal offer but worldwide.

I think it will take a few years before there is a viable alternative to Paypal, unfortunately

There were some companies in the UK that tried to compete, especially on the eBay side of things, such as NoChex - I'm not sure what happened to them.

It wont be a few years. gBuy is getting ready to launch.
I read something about it in my local paper.

Im not sure exactly when it will be, but if its being widely reported then I'm guessing it won't be too long.

I don't think it will be too long before PayPal has a competitor who could potentially reach the same market reach or take it right out from under them, but it will take a few years for Google (of course ... who else is in the position to do this?) to build the user base and brand loyalty to lure people away from PayPal.

Although PayPal is mostly U.S. based, as someone said, it does offer services to a number of other countries at a relatively small fee considering the "safety" of the transaction service compared to smaller operations that have tried to enter the market.

Personally, I'm very happy with PayPal and have been for a number of years. It would take a lot to lure me away from them, as long as I'm receiving the type of service I now do. To me, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".
